Dort Financial Credit Union has extended a helping hand to the community since its founding in 1951. We are honored to be a part of this community and the surrounding counties as well, through our philanthropy and volunteer efforts.
Dort Financial is grounded in the credit union philosophy of “people helping people” and building throughout the community. In 2025, Dort Financial donated over $350,000 to support our communities, and team members volunteered at more than 120 events. From handing out promotional items at Flint City Bucks and Flint Firebirds games and sponsoring banners and scoreboards at local schools, to hosting blood drives and raising funds for Carriage Town Ministries and Garrett's Place through campaigns, you can count on Dort Financial Credit Union to make a lasting impact on all aspects of the community.
We are grateful to be a part of the communities surrounding our branch locations, and look forward to expanding our community involvement throughout the state of Michigan. Some of our current community partners include Dutton Farms, The Prism Project, Xpectional Hero's, The Miracle League of North Oakland County, the YMCA of Greater Flint, Catholic Charities of Shiawassee and Genesee Counties, Whaley Children's Center, Sloan Museum of Discovery and Hurley Children’s Hospital.
The credit union movement was founded on the philosophy of “People Helping People”. In keeping with our philosophy, Dort Financial Credit Union’s student scholarship program was established to help our members achieve their higher educational goals. We offer fifteen (15) $2,000 scholarships each year to graduating high school seniors or older students seeking to further their education after high school. The 2026 deadline has ended.
The Snowman Sales program has benefited many worthy local charities in the past thanks to our very generous members. In 2025, members donated more than $49,000 to support Garrett's Place and Carriage Town Ministries.
