Grand Blanc “Hometown Hero” Award Presented to Dort Federal Credit Union
GRAND BLANC, MI – On the evening of Wednesday, March 23rd, over 200 Grand Blanc community and chamber members gathered at the annual Grand Blanc Chairman’s Award Dinner to recognize organizations and individuals who made a difference in the community throughout 2016. One of the organizations present to accept an award was Dort Federal Credit Union, which was anonymously nominated by members of the community.
“We are thrilled to accept the Hometown Hero award on behalf of all our dedicated members, employees, and volunteer directors who are the pillars of these communities we serve,” said President and CEO of Dort Federal, Vicki Hawkins. “Throughout the year we strive to make a difference in the lives of as many members of our community as we can through our partnerships with organizations such as Family Promise, United Way, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the Catholic Charities. Our relationships with the Dort Federal Credit Union Event Center and Flint Firebirds have also allowed us to reach more members of this community through fun events for all members of the family.”
The Chamber of Commerce describes the award recipient as, “… a business that unselfishly demonstrates outstanding community service to their area.” There were four other organizations that were also nominated.
Dort Federal Credit Union was founded in Flint in 1951, now serving nearly 80,000 members. It has seven locations in and around the Greater Flint area. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, attends school, worships, or volunteers in Genesee, Lapeer, or Shiawassee County, or Deerfield and Tyrone Townships in Livingston County.
